We’re excited to kick off three new retrofit projects in the renewable energy space, replacing SCADA systems at two 60MW and one 35MW Solar PV plants of EDF Power Solutions that have been operational for several years already.
Solar power plants are built to last for decades but digital technologies evolve much faster. As renewable infrastructure ages, these plants must be digitally modernized to meet high levels of control and response times, maximize long-term output, remain cyber-secure, and leverage advanced analytics. SCADA is now at the heart of energy optimization and grid reliability, way beyond monitoring.
At Contel, we’re executing these comprehensive SCADA retrofit projects, which include:
- Designing and deploying a next-generation SCADA architecture
- Replacement of the PPC and the connection to the TSO
- Integrating with legacy field devices
- HV Substations integration
- Ensuring secure remote access and grid code compliance
SCADA retrofits in operational PV plants are complex. Some of the unique challenges we’re addressing are minimal downtime, system interoperability between old and new systems from different manufacturers, and data integrity with accurate and complete migration of real-time data.
These projects reflect a larger trend. As renewables scale up, so must the control and intelligence behind them. SCADA retrofits are the foundation for future-ready energy systems, and we’re proud to help drive this transformation.
