EnergyWeek 2026 – Panel on Energy Market Shifts

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of sitting on the opening panel at EnergyWeek of Ignite The Spark to share my thoughts on where Israel’s renewable market is heading.

While reaching the 30% renewables generation target by 2030 seems quite unrealistic from today’s 17%, I left the event feeling optimistic. The game has changed. We are shifting from just building new capacity to optimizing the yield of the assets already on the ground. To pull this off, grid flexibility is the most critical attribute we need right now, and storage is playing the starring role in making that happen.

Regarding technology. It is clear that the technology is ready and won’t be the bottleneck. We just proved this again with a recent internal test for NOGA’s FFR pilot run by Contel Smart Energy.

The big question is whether regulation will let market players move fast enough. While the last decade was about erecting panels and batteries, the next decade will be about operating and trading what we’ve built, and I truly hope we use this momentum to close the gap with Europe in this matter.

A huge thank you to the Ignite the Spark organization, and to Shon Dana, Aya Ephrati and Cody Vallez Norton for a packed, high-quality event. And to my co-panellists, Liav Harel, Igor Aronovich Ronny Izhak Roee Furman.

I’m glad that our CTO, Tal Keidar, joined the panel of judges later in the day.

Big congratulations to the winning startup!
