We’re proud to announce that Contel Smart Energy has been selected to lead cybersecurity and communications infrastructure upgrade at Israel’s Halutziot solar energy site, Enlight’s (ENLT) largest solar facility in Israel.
This project includes:
- Full replacement of all communication switches
- Major upgrades to IT and cybersecurity systems
- Deployment of advanced data security and critical infrastructure protection
- Ongoing cybersecurity compliance and advisory
As the global shift to renewables accelerates, energy sites are becoming prime targets for cyberattacks. Renewable energy installations are increasingly connected to the national grid system, making them both critical and vulnerable.
According to a 2024 European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) report, “The energy sector, particularly renewables, is facing a steep rise in cyber threats, with attacks targeting supply chains, industrial controls, and grid-connected systems. Cybersecurity must evolve into a central pillar of energy transition efforts.”
Industry projections estimate that cyberattacks on the global energy sector could exceed $20 billion in annual damages by 2026, with distributed renewable infrastructure among the fastest-growing targets.
In this environment, cybersecurity has become a strategic necessity. Operational downtime, control system breaches, and data loss pose serious risks to energy security, public trust, and national resilience.
This initiative reflects growing recognition of Contel’s capabilities in OT cybersecurity, industrial networking, and mission-critical infrastructure protection.
We’re honored to contribute to Israel’s energy resilience and share this commitment with peers around the world.
